The Citadel Mitt by MOUNTAIN EQUIPMENT is a 2-part synthetically insulated mitt system making it a must have for cold-weather climbing and mountaineering.

When developing the Citadel Mitt, MOUNTAIN EQUIPMENT worked closely with their athletes. These mittens are one of the pieces of equipment that the athletes always have with them when they tackle cold, long routes. They have kept hands warm on first ascents over 7000 m and on some of the toughest modern alpine lines. They provide great sensitivity and dexterity, which is particularly appreciated by the team when belaying and pushing to the summit, but also on easier terrain. This is why the mittens are also recommended by many expedition companies for climbing 5-7000 m high peaks in the Himalayas, Karakoram and South America.

The two-piece system consists of an inner and outer glove. The outer part is insulated with three layers of PrimaLoft® Gold (170 g/m²) synthetic fiber filling on the back of the hand and PrimaLoft® Gold Grip (135 g/m²) on the palm. PrimaLoft® Gold has outstanding thermal performance and provides the necessary grip and dexterity to perform all the important functions in the vertical position. It is the best insulation material in this respect, warms even when wet and resists compression better than down. The outer material made from Drilite® Loft 20D material is highly water-repellent, windproof and breathable. For additional grip and protection against abrasion, the palm is made of waterproof goatskin with polyamide.

The inner glove comes with the same Drilite® Loft 20D outer material, which is combined with Exolite Softshell and a goatskin insert on the palm. Its fleece lining provides exceptional warmth and comfort when no additional inner glove is worn. The two-piece finger design provides increased sensitivity and much more warmth than a normal finger glove.

The inner and outer mitten can be worn together or separately.
